Ecologists/Senior Ecologist

 

We are looking to recruit a full-time ecologist based out of our Overton office. The post would include a mixture of office based and field work. You will need a willingness to travel outside the locality and work flexible hours, including night working. As a small consultancy passionate about what we do we are looking to recruit someone who is a good fit for our team and who wants to progress their career.

You will have and be able to demonstrate:

  • A relevant degree qualification
  • An ability to manage ecology projects
  • At least 3 years of experience of working in an ecological consultancy
  • At least Graduate membership of CIEEM (or able to demonstrate eligibility)
  • Knowledge of best practice survey and mitigation guidance
  • Knowledge of UK and EU legislation
  • Understanding and experience of protected species surveys and habitat assessments
  • Good report writing and communication skills
  • The ability to liaise with clients, lead ecology team members
  • An interest in actively engaging with the design process to incorporate ecological measures into development proposals to deliver biodiversity net-gain
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Willingness to work flexibility

 Other elements which would be of benefit:

  • Possess one or more protected species licences (especially Bat licence)
  • Access to your own car for business use

Assistant Ecologists

We are looking for seasonal surveyors for the 2021 ecology survey season. The position(s) would be based from our Overton office. We anticipate the positions will be for a period of up to 6 months (likely to commence March 2021). The position(s) would be paid full time for 40 hours a week, accepting that some weeks may be busier than others. You will need a willingness to travel outside the locality and work flexible hours, including night working.

Your main role would be assisting in field surveys, but there would be an element of desk-based work such as assisting with survey preparation, data analysis and preparation of reports. Your work would be supervised and supported, providing valuable experience and training in ecological consultancy work.

We are looking for a conscientious, self motivated, enthusiastic ecologists who can work collaboratively with others and independently on agreed tasks. You will have and be able to demonstrate:

  • A relevant degree qualification
  • Some knowledge of UK habitats and protected species
  • Some understanding and experience of protected species surveys and habitat assessments
  • Good organisational and communication skills
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Willingness to work flexibility
  • Access to your own car for business use
